How to Use

The Japanese Soroban is a traditional abacus with 13 rods. Each rod has 1 heaven bead (worth 5) above the beam and 4 earth beads (worth 1 each) below.

Tap or slide beads toward the beam to activate them
Tap or slide beads away from the beam to deactivate them
The digital display shows the current value
Tilt your device to see gravity affect the beads
Tap the reset button to clear all beads

FAQ

Q: How do I read the value?

A: Each rod represents a decimal place. The rightmost rod is the ones place. Heaven beads pushed down = 5, earth beads pushed up = 1 each. The digital display at the top shows the total.

Q: The beads move when I tilt my phone

A: This is a feature! The app uses your device's motion sensors to simulate real gravity, just like a real soroban would behave when tilted.

Q: What devices are supported?

A: iPhone with iOS 15 or later (including iPhone 8 Plus and newer).
